I looked into the processes of making book covers and the materials needed for it as to wanted to know how I will present my artefact at the end of the project. One of the processes that I stumbled upon in 'bookbinding', which involves putting all the parts of the book together. The sources that I mainly looked at are designersinsights.com and studentbookbinding.co.uk.

The most common type of bookbinding used for Young Adult books are either soft cover binding (i.e. paperback books) or Hardback covers binding. Paperback books tend to be much cheaper and, therefore, a more popular choice for teenagers. However, for more avid book collectors, they prefer hardback covers, which usually comes with a dust jacket wrap featuring the book cover used for the paperback version.

I think that it will be very interesting if I can make the books for my artefact from scratch however, it is very time-consuming and money-wise it is also expensive to book bind a book with hundreds of pages. Furthermore, have been looking at bookbinding courses in places such as art universities galleries and they cost a lot of money as well (e.g a bookbinding course in University of Arts London costs £545 and takes a week to finish). I have decided that since my research is more focused on designing the book cover, I will focus more on that and produce my artefact either by using more affordable techniques, such as creating a dust jacket wrap for a hardback cover, or creating a digital book mock-up to showcase my designs in an interesting and realistic way. Both http://www.creativindiecovers.com and www.boxshot.com offers this tool online.
