Meeting with my supervisor

I had a meeting with Linda today. We talked about how far my research went over the summer and what I was able to do. We also worked on my mid-planning review sheet and the things that I will need to do as my next step. Most of what I talked about in our meeting are found in my reflection after the summer (here).
One of the comments she suggested earlier in the year was that I should also research how to write blurbs for my book covers. I was so focused on the design that I forgot the importance of the blurbs. I will research this and create different blurbs for the covers and I will ask my supervisor, since she is also my English Literature teacher, to critique them for me. During the meeting she suggested that I start looking at how
My supervisor asked me what style I was doing the books in, whether I'm doing them all in different styles or in a house style. After much thinking whilst doing my research I chose to do a house style for the three books. When looking at book covers re-designed by different artist most design them as part of a series and I want to make my versions as such. I think that it will make my goals for the project and final outcome flow nicely and give it a sense of continuity.

These redesigned book covers by Noma Bar all follow the same theme colours, which are while/cream, red and black. All of them also have the same style, which is a flat and minimalistic illustration, mostly containing clean and crisp lines and circles.

Although the books are different in colours, they still follow a similar hand drawn type of style. These books were designed by Ashley Kittrell.

Similarly to the books above, they don’t follow the same theme colours but they're outcomes still have some resemblance to each other. All of the books have different repeating patterns and opulent aesthetics. All of them are also made in the same materials and has the same fonts and layout on the spine.
Overall, my next steps will be to research how to write blurbs and to start doing sketches and designs on my books covers. I am planning to record all of my processes in a separate sketchbook, like how I do with my Fine Art A-level. I think this will allow me to record my experiments freely and creatively. However, I will still write them down in here or scan pages and post them on this log.
